NetHosting Looks at Hobby-Sharing Website Pinterest in New Case Study

by Andy Chapman

In a brand new case study, NetHosting highlights the history and hosting of the "self-expression engine" Pinterest.

Orem, UT Nethosting, a leader in Cloud Hosting, Virtual Shared Hosting, and Dedicated Hosting solutions since 1994, has recently published a new case study about the rapidly expanding hobby-sharing website: Pinterest.

Founded in 2009, Pinterest was the brainchild of three website designers: Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra, and Evan Sharp. As a dynamic hobby-sharing platform, users can create unique profiles on which they collect and “pin” images of the things that interest them and then share those collections with others online.

Because of its diversity, Pinterest quickly became a source of inspiration for hobbyists and creative professionals around the world, achieving 1.5 million users within the year and a half that the site was in beta status. Pinterest has since grown to 4 million users and was recently listed as #38 in TIME magazine’s “50 Best Websites of 2011.”

“Pinterest is the thirty-fourth most trafficked site in America,” expressed NetHosting CEO, Lane Livingston. “The only hosting solution equipped to accommodate such escalating traffic demands, while continuing to provide a fast and functional product, is a solution based in the cloud. Pinterest is another solid example of how cloud hosting has proven its worth in a critical way, allowing an innovative website to efficiently grow and expand while remaining constantly available to its users.”

NetHosting has explored the nuts and bolts of many other social media sites, including as Reddit, Twitter, and SoundCloud, in other case studies.
