Can I have multiple domains pointing to my website?

Whether you have Virtual Hosting, a Virtual Private Server, or a Dedicated server you can point multiple domains at them.

On Virtual Hosting you can do this through the DirectAdmin interface.  On a VPS it is an entirely different process.  It is mainly on how you have the VPS configured.  If you are using a web management interface on your account, such as DirectAdmin or CPanel, you can add domains through the tools provided by the management software.  Otherwise, you will have to do it through manual configuration of Apache or the webserver that you are using.  A dedicated server is like a VPS in this respect.  You will either have to do it through a manual apache configuration or through a Control Panel.  You must also make sure that your DNS is pointed properly to your hosting account IP address as well.  To point your DNS to us you must either: change your domain registration listed name servers to be NS1.NETHOSTING.COM and NS2.NETHOSTING.COM (so you can use our DNS Management interface) or point your current name servers at the proper IP address.  Your IP address is given in your welcome letter when you sign up for the account.

Does it make a difference what type of desktop computer I use?

The internet is a homogenous collection of different types of servers and operating systems.  It only matters what type of Desktop you use if you have developed system specific scripts.  If you have developed scripts on your desktop computer that use technologies specific to a certain operating system or environment, then you will need a server that runs the same OS or environment.  The rule of thumb is to try to develop on the system (or a simliar system) that it will eventually be hosted on.  This allows you to know if things work properly before you upload everything.

You may want to also consider purchasing a second identical account for development and testing ensure things will work perfectly on your live server environment.

How long does it take for my account to be ready after signing up?

This can vary on the package you select.  Typically, we can have your Virtual Hosting up as soon as you finish the sign up process.  VPS or Dedicated servers can be ready within 10-15 minutes of your order depending on the options you choose.  We pride ourselves on being the only provider in the industry with a ten minute or less install of a basic Dedicated or Virtual Private Server.

How long will it take to get my site online?

Once your account is ready to go it is up to you and how much time you take to get your site online. You'll need to upload your site files, database contents, etc. You'll also need to modify the domain registration and/or DNS records for your domain(s). It can however take 24 to 48 hours for DNS to propagate. If you need any help in this you can contact our web design and technical support services to assist you.

Now that I am done signing in how do I upload my website?

Most of the time you will want to upload all of your site information using FTP.  You can use the Administration interface to do this, but it is easier to use a standard FTP program like, FileZilla.  Depending on the structure of the site this can vary in how it needs to be setup properly. If you have questions or need help, please contact our techincal support team.

What if I forget my Username or Password?

Our support team can help you reset the password for your account or provide your user name if you call us. We will need to verify some of your account details to protect your security of course. VPS accounts use a real administrative account and password so if you forget what it is we may have to reimage the server to recover or remove the password. That means your server will be restored to its initial, blank state so make sure you keep a written copy of that password stored in a safe place where you won't lose it.
